Inserting and Replacing Batteries

1. Be sure that you are using the correct size and type cell for your aid.

2. To insert or replace the battery, open the battery compartment by placing your fingernail under the edge of the swing out door and gently pulling outward. DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR TOO FAR OR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.

4. Remove the existing battery either by pushing it out by the bottom of the door, or pulling it straight out.

5. Place the new battery in the compartment with the plus (+) sign facing the same direction as the (+) sign on the door.

6. Close the battery compartment by swinging the door until it snaps securely in place. NEVER FORCE THE BATTERY DOOR SHUT. Forcing it shut may result in serious damage to the aid.

PLEASE NOTE: If the door will not close securely, check to see that the battery is paced properly in the compartment. If problems continue, see your Hearing Aid Specialist.

Because batteries can very in size and performance, consult your dispenser to be certain that you are using the correct size and type if difficulty persists.

By purchasing batteries from your dispenser, not only will you receive the most appropriate battery, your dispenser can perform regular inspections of your aids to ensure their continued trouble-fee performance.

When not wearing your aid, be sure to remove the battery from its compartment to prevent corrosion or an excessive reduction in battery life.

Inserting Hearing Aid

1. Before placing the hearing aid into your ear, check to see that the gain control is turned down. This will reduce the chance of feedback.

2. To insert, hold the aid between your thumb and forefinger with the gain control toward the top of the ear. Then gently insert the aid into your ear canal.

Removing Hearing Aid

1. Use your finger to gently massage the area behind your ear lode. This gentle pressure should work the aid out of your ear.

2. Reach into the ear with your thumb and forefinger, and gently pull the aid out. NEVER USE THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT DOOR TO PULL THE AID OUT! THIS MAY DAMAGE YOUR AID.

PLEASE NOTE: To prevent damage to the gain the gain control, DO NOT use the gain control knob as a handle when removing or inserting your aid. The control is NOT designed to withstand the pressure of repeated pulling of fingers or fingernails.

Turning Your Hearing Aid On And Off, And Adjusting Gain

1. To turn your aid on, simply turn the gain control forward slowly until the sound level is comfortable.

2. To change the level, use the tip of one finger to rotate the gain control. For LOUDER sounds, rotate the control FORWARD. For SOFTER sounds, turn it BACKWARD.

3. To turn your aid off, turn the gain control as far backward as it will go.

PLEASE NOTE: As you adjust the gain control, you may hear a whistling noise known as feedback. This is caused by amplified sound escaping from the ear and reflected by your hand into the aid's microphone. It should cease when you move your hand.

Using The Telephone

When using the telephone, your aid works best by holding the phone receiver close, but not pressing against the ear. If you hear a whistling noise, tilt the phone receiver at an angle until the noise stops. Experiment until you find the best position.

Cleaning Your Hearing Aid

The brush provided with your aid will help keep your instrument clean. Use it daily to remove earwax or other particles which may have accumulated on the canal area or around the gain control and battery compartment. A careful brushing accompanied by gently wiping with a soft cloth will keep your aid clean.

If your aid will not be used for an extended period of time, place it in the container provided and store in a cool, dry place.

If you perspire heavily or live in an area of high humidity, you may find it beneficial to use a Dry-Aid Kit when the aid is not in use. This product can be purchased from your Hearing Aid Specialist.

DO NOT EXPOSE YOUR AID TO EXCESSIVE MOISTURE OR HEAT.
